The following list gives a flavour of the variety of items we collect.

  • Photographs of:

    • family events such as weddings

    • village events, such as fairs, fetes and shows

    • people who have lived in the village at different times

    • houses and other buildings, especially showing changes over the years such as extensions, alterations to windows and doors, as well as changes in garden layouts and features

    • the village in general, showing how it was in earlier years

  • Documents such as:

    • house sales brochures

    • legal documents relating to mortgages or transfer of property

    • anything relating to trades and occupations carried out in the village

    • wills and inventories

    • house plans, including those for extensions and alterations

    • house deeds

  • Maps

    • sketch maps showing interesting features such as who lived where

    • official maps

  • Memories

    • Can you tell us about any interesting aspect of the village? We can either take notes as you talk to us or record a conversation

  • Memorabilia

    • Pamphlets and booklets relating to village events

    • Scrapbooks and diaries

  • Artefacts

    • items such as those used by a village trader in the course of his work
